6. Hike to Taktsang (The Tiger’s Nest)

Tiger’s Nest, or Paro Taktsang, is a famous monastery perched on a cliffside in the Paro Valley of Bhutan. Built in the 17th century, it is a significant pilgrimage site and offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape. The monastery is named after Guru Padmasambhava, who is believed to have meditated there. Visitors typically undertake a scenic hike to reach the site, which is a symbol of Bhutanese spirituality and architecture. It takes 4 hours from the base to reach the monastery and 3 hours to return. For the elderly people who cannot walk uphill and walk down, horse ride is provided at competitive additional cost.
